Breaking News: Time to Track Railway Funding

Africa is a peculiar region where laudable projects are frequently messed up due to entrenched corrupt practices. That negative trend is creeping into the vital railway sector.

Billions of dollars are now budgeted and borrowed to finance rail projects without proper scrutiny.Increasingly rail project is assuming the status of defence spending normally considered to be beyond open questioning.

Across Africa,same kilometres of railway line costs varying amounts  with several governments unable to explain the wide variations.Light rail projects are sources of controversies.The cost of  SGR is already a matter of public discourse in Kenya.

Now is time to track the Railway billions. Now is time for accountability journalism in the railway sector.We seek news and tips about cost,expenditure and budgetary issues as it relates to the railways sector.We will publish and track implementation of projects in the railways sector.
