Pakistan: Govt to Handover Railways to Private Operator s

According to ARY News, the Railway Department has sought proposals from the private sector for privatization of trains. It is said that the privatization of trains is being done for the convenience of passengers.

However, Sir Syed Express, Hazara Express, Shalimar Express, Badar Express and Narowal Passenger are profitable trains, these profitable trains are also being handed over to the private sector.

The trains that have been decided to be handed over to the private sector include Sir Syed Express from Karachi to Rawalpindi, Hazara Express from Karachi to Havelian, Shalimar Express from Karachi to Lahore, Mianwali Express from Lahore to Mari Indus. These include Narowal Passenger from Lahore to Sialkot, Mehran Express from Karachi to Mirpur Khas, Badar Express from Lahore to Multan.

Proposals have been invited for 3 routes for Mohenjo Daro Express running from Karachi to Jacobabad, including Karachi via Jacobabad to Multan, Kotri via Jacobabad to Multan and third route Kotri via Dadu to Sukkur.
