African leaders are competing to bridge the infrastructural gap that is slowing down development on the continent. The result is a rat race among Presidents and Heads of State to open up their territories and connect their people to opportunities.
2018 was particularly unique as leaders from across the various economic zones of Africa planned and implemented many projects especially in the railway sector. The inherited railway facilities in form of old narrow gauges and dilapidated railway infrastructures are no longer functional and in need of total overhaul. The reality of most railways services working or not working at all prompted many of the leaders to commence rehabilitation, modernisation and expansion of railway services in this countries.
In 2018 ,four African leaders stand out in these concerted efforts to implement rail to wealth initiatives. They include the Kenyan President ,Uhuru Kenyatta ;Nigerian leader,Muhammadu Buhari;Morrocan King ,Muhammad 1v;and the Ghanaian president ,Kofi Nana-Ado.
Many other presidents are also implementing several railways projects. The selected leaders however have very ambitious railway plans and they are demonstrating boldness and strong political will in the implementation process.
So who is the most pro-railway among the four nominated presidents?
We will announce the winner by December 31st.
