ZDM- The National Railways Society of France (SNCF) and the German Railways (DB) have renewed their digital cooperation agreement, first signed 4 years ago.
The new agreement involves strengthening the partnership between the two largest European railways and focuses on seven objectives aimed at increasing the level of automation, quality, efficiency and attractiveness of rail transport.
In addition, the agreement now covers cooperation in the field of alternative traction systems and rail energy management.
Among the key topics of cooperation are unmanned trains, functionally safe technologies for determining the location of rolling stock, promising communication systems, including the 5G standard, technologies for organizing transportation using simulation and artificial intelligence.
Both companies intend to jointly accelerate developments in the field of digitalization of freight transportation with the improvement of cross-border information exchange, as well as the promotion of BIM technology using digital twins in the preparation and implementation of infrastructure projects and the creation of mobile applications for passengers.
The exchange of experience in the development of traction rolling stock on biofuel, fuel cells and storage batteries is envisaged. Another topic will be environmentally friendly stations (photo: DB).
