Nigeria-Railway Firm Flaunts Rotimi Amaechi’s Records

A Nigerian railway firm, African Railway Expo and Consult limited [AFRECO], has described the Minister of Transportation in Nigeria, Rotimi Amaechi as the best transport minister with excellent records in railway and other sub-sectors of the transport industry.

In a statement issued in Abuja today amidst political uproar in Nigeria ahead of next month presidential election, the Chief Executive officer of the company, Oladele Abdulahi said Amaechi has produced results for the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari and Nigeria as a whole through diligent planning and implementation of the nation’s railway master plan.

According to the statement,” the main sector which every Nigerian has been crediting President Buhari is the transport sector and especially the railway sub-sector. The President supersonic performance is first in the transport sector before any other. His main man initiating and executing that success story is Amaechi.

“As Nigeria is facing new election, the administration has completed and commissioned Abuja-Kaduna light rail line. The Itapke-Warri railroad is also completed while work has reached advanced stage on the Lagos-Ibadan rail line, The Lagos-Kano rail renovation is ongoing. The Eastern railway line from Lagos to Akwa Ibom is on. The Port Harcourt –Maiduguri railway line is on alongside so many other ongoing rail projects. The reality is that in Nigerian cabinet today, Amaechi is a first class performer”, the statement noted.

The firm stated that within the last three years plus, the Ministry of Transportation has pulled through many projects including the opening of national freight offices nationwide ,adding that “ there is no doubt that the minister has paid his dues and served the Buhari administration creditably .

“We enumerated below numerated the achievements of the federal ministry of transportation as part of major milestones achievement of the present administration in the just concluded year 2018 alone.

I.  Completion and flag off for commercial operations of the Abuja kaduna standard gauge railway on July 26,2016.

ii. Signing of addendum 1 for the coastal railway line: Lagos- calabar with additional line from Benin city- Agbor- asaba- Onitasha and on its a bridge on 1St July, 2016.

iii. Signing of the commercial contract for the execution of addendum No 3: Kano – Kaduna of the Lagos – Kano railway modernization project on 31St September, 2016.

iv. Completion of the controller pilot data link communication (CPDLC)  at kano and Lagos for improved communication between the pilots and air traffic controllers. 

V.  Completion of 5kW SOLAR DC System for NAVAIDS sites at bida and okitipupa enroute sites which lead to the elimination of power surges and power outages .

Vi.  Signing of an MOU with Chinese company, China railways construction corporation (CRCC)  for the completion of the itakpe- ajaokuta- warri ( aladja jetty)  railway line and the extension from aladja- warri town port,  refinery and industrial park;  and itakpe- jakura- baro- Abuja with a siding from eganyi – jakura

Vii.  Installation of low level windshear alert system at katsina airport to enhance safety of aircraft operations and retention upgrade of NIMET ISO 9001:2008 certification ICAO certification of quality meteorological services provision to airlines by NIMET.

viii.  Ensured that the inland container Nigeria limited (ICLNL)  Bonded terminal, kaduna earlier recommended for upgrade by the Nigerian shippers councils was upgraded to the status of a dry port thereby making it the first inland dry port in the country. 

ix. Upgrade and rehabilitation of airport terminal building at kaduna port harcourt, maiduguri, engu,  ongoing construction of new international terminal building at building at Abuja, Lagos, kano, port harcourt, enugu as well as rehabilitation of car parks and services roads Ibadan,  akure,  Lagos,  ilorin,  Benin owerri,  enugu, yola, katsina, and sokoto airports
