The first 14 passenger cars of the third class equipped with air conditioning systems were delivered to the Arab Republic of Egypt on September 15, 2021. In total, the contract provides for the delivery of 500 cars of this model to this country.
The delivery of the arrived wagons to the customer marks the beginning of the second phase of delivery, which includes 800 air-conditioned wagons, including, in addition to 500 third-class wagons, 180 second-class wagons, 90 first-class wagons, which are assembled at the plant in Dunakesy (Hungary) , as well as 30 dining cars, which will be manufactured at the Tver Carriage Works (TVZ, part of TMH) in Russia.
At present, the first stage of the contract has been completed, within the framework of which 500 third class wagons with forced ventilation systems have been shipped to the customer. In total, 38% of the total order volume, which is 1,300 units, has now been delivered to Egypt.
The interior of the new rolling stock is made in blue and orange colors. For protection from direct sunlight, curtains integrated into the double-glazed windows are used, which are controlled from the passenger compartment.
Each carriage is equipped with an information board, which indicates the date, time, information about the temperature in the train compartment and outside, as well as the level of humidity. Information is displayed in Arabic and English. There have been changes in the color scheme of the carriages compared to that of the carriages of the early batches. The new batch uses the outlines of the Egyptian pyramids.
As the General Director of TMH K. V. Lipa noted, 35 wagons are sent to Egypt every month. This delivery schedule will continue in the future.
The contract for the supply of 1,300 passenger cars with a total value of 1 billion euros was signed in September 2018 and came into force in May 2020
