The Tver Carriage Works (TVZ, part of Transmashholding JSC, TMH) has completed the September delivery plan to the Egyptian National Railways (ENR). This was reported in the press release of the company.
With the arrival of the next batch of passenger cars in the port of Alexandria, the total number of products handed over to the customer reached 103 out of 1300 units.
Starting from August 2020, ENR is delivered monthly by 35 wagons, making it possible to form 3 new trains. Trains formed from Russian wagons run daily on the railway lines Cairo – Alexandria (208 km) and Cairo – Aswan (879 km). By the end of this year, the customer will receive another 105 units of equipment.
All delivered cars of the 3rd class model 61-4514 with forced ventilation are designed for 88 seats. The service life of the wagons in both the continental and coastal climate of Egypt is 40 years.
The cars were manufactured by TVZ under the contract signed by the Russian-Hungarian consortium “Transmashholding Hungary Kft” and ENR at the end of September 2018.
The contract provides for the manufacture and supply of 1.3 thousand passenger cars of 5 different models of 1, 2 and 3 classes. The contract is worth over 1 billion euros.
The supplies are financed jointly by Hungarian and Russian export-import banks, and production is carried out both in Russia and Hungary. TVZ is the party responsible for the transfer of technology and organization of production.
