To increase the level of safety at the intersections of highways and railways, SvZhD equips two crossings on the main route of the Transsib with video recording systems for violations of traffic rules by drivers: on the Lechebny – Koltsovo stretch (Sverdlovsk region) and at the Kukushtan station (Perm Territory). The equipment will be installed and connected by the end of 2020, the corporate communications service of the highway reports .

SvZhD systematically equips crossings with video recordings with heavy traffic, where the most traffic violations are noted. This measure allows you to receive confirmation of the facts of violations, to bring car owners to justice and thereby contributes to the strengthening of driving discipline. Automated intelligent systems are capable of detecting a vehicle entering the oncoming lane, passing a red light, and stopping behind a stop sign.

Information about all violations from cameras at the crossing of the Lechebny – Koltsovo stretch will be sent to the Center for Automatic Recording of Administrative Offenses (CAFAP) of the State Traffic Safety Inspectorate of the Sverdlovsk Region, followed by an extract of decisions on the facts of offenses. Data from cameras at the crossing at Kukushtan station will be sent to the Technical Center for Traffic Safety of the Perm Territory, also with the subsequent issuance of resolutions.

At the moment, 15 crossings in all regions of the highway have been equipped with video recording systems at SvRd, including those crossings where resonant accidents have occurred earlier.

For 7 months of 2020, 6 road accidents occurred at railway crossings of the Sverdlovsk Mainline (for the same period in 2019 – 5 accidents), as a result, 3 people were injured (in 2019, 1 person died). The causes of all road accidents were gross violations of traffic rules by drivers of vehicles. On the Russian Railways network, 102 collisions with railway rolling stock were allowed at level crossings due to the fault of drivers in six months . This is 19% less than in the first half of 2019.(
