Global market participants will have to coordinate carriers, cargo owners and forwarders on tariffs, simplify border crossing procedures and implement digital toolsphoto: Mikhail Burdukovskikh
Oleg Belozerov, General Director and Chairman of the Management Board of Russian Railways, discussed the development of transcontinental rail transport with Miroslav Antonovich, Chairman of the Committee of the Organization for Cooperation between Railways (OSJD).
At present, work is underway at the OSJD site to develop 13 transport corridors, and the main Euro-Asian transport corridors of Russia – Transsib and North – South – are part of this system.
“The development of international transport corridors is an absolute priority for the company. Thanks to their use, the maximum efficiency of container transportation is ensured, while minimizing the carbon footprint arising from other types of transport, “Oleg Belozerov emphasized.
He also noted that for the further development of international transport corridors, it is important to ensure coordination of actions of market regulators, carriers, cargo owners and forwarders in the field of tariffs, simplification of border crossing procedures, and the introduction of digital tools.
At the same time, according to Oleg Belozerov and Miroslav Antonovich, within the competence and powers of individual companies, it is impossible to resolve all issues related to the organization of international freight traffic, therefore it is important to create coordinating bodies for the management of OSJD railway transport corridors.
The OSJD participants agreed on a draft agreement on the carriage of containers as part of container trains in international traffic, establishing a unified procedure for interaction between rail carriers and container train operators. The signing of this agreement will become the basis for further improvement of the regulatory legal framework in the field of container transportation.
Oleg Belozerov and Miroslav Antonovich agreed to continue joint activities on digitalization of the transportation process within the OSJD framework in order to carry out transportation in the China – Europe – China traffic in a completely paperless format..(Gudok.ru)
