The NSCR Phase 1 project is a 38km railway line from Malolos, Bulacan to Tutuban, Manila, which is expected to serve more than 200,000 commuters a day. This is a project led entirely by the Philippine government, aiming to alleviate traffic congestion by expanding existing public transportation in the capital Manila and nearby areas.

This project consists of two contract packages (hereinafter referred to as CP) with different contractors. Hitachi Elevator Philippines Co., Ltd. has received orders for 13 elevators and 26 escalators for CP01, which Taisei Corporation and DMCI JV (Joint Venture) are in charge of, and 8 elevators and 20 escalators for CP02, which Sumitomo Mitsui Construction is in charge of,will be delivered by May 2023. The size of the elevator market in the Philippines is expected to grow at an annual rate of 5.5% from 2019 to 2025 *.

Construction projects have stagnated worldwide due to the spread of the new coronavirus infection, and in the Philippines, the annual demand for elevators has dropped from about 3,700 to about 2,300, but this situation has been overcome toward the new normal. However, the elevator industry is expected to grow significantly over the next few years due to the progress of urbanization and the rapid expansion of construction.

Hitachi and Hitachi Building Systems will continue to utilize cutting-edge digital technologies such as IoT widely in
development of products and services to provide safe, secure and comfortable elevators and various customers in urban spaces. We will contribute to the realization of a sustainable society by providing services that contribute to solving problems globally.
