Despite all the negative factors, the Russian Railways holding and its clients showed unique results in 2020. This was announced today by the press center of the company with reference to the statement of Oleg Belozerov, General Director – Chairman of the Management Board of Russian Railways, at a meeting with major shippers.
“I would like to thank everyone for their joint work during 2020, their readiness for dialogue and their focus on finding the best mutually beneficial solutions. Together, we have shown unique results that have been achieved in absolutely unprecedented conditions, ”said the head of Russian Railways.
In 2020, Russian Railways reached record quality indicators of freight traffic: thedelivery speed of loaded shipments increased by 11.4%, to 439.4 km per day.
The record for the volume of container transport has been updated – 5.8 million TEU. 99.4% of loaded shipments were delivered on time, which is 1 pp higher than the level of 2019. More than 500 container trains per day have become the norm.
Transportation of coal from Russia to China in open top containers has begun through the border crossing Zabaikalsk – Manchuria . “Until recently, it was impossible even to imagine, but this method gave a good result and transportation has already started on a regular basis,” said Oleg Belozerov. – This is our joint response to the changing situation. And we need to keep this approach in the future, look into the future together and transform the technology of work ”.
The company’s target parameters for 2021 were set based on applications from shippers and an analytical assessment. They correlate with the forecast of the Ministry of Economic Development, which takes into account the leveling of the negative consequences of the pandemic in most sectors of the economy and indicates the beginning of recovery growth, said Deputy Director General of JSC Russian Railways – Head of the Center for Corporate Transport Services Alexey Shilo.
Based on the real needs of customers, the company will focus on digitalization, improving the quality, complexity and ease of access to services, as well as on the unconditional development of all volumes of loading.
Further development of the Personal Account is plannedclient, creation of a unified digital catalog of services, replication of smart contract technology. To enable tracking the movement of wagons, the Russian Railways Tracking service is being developed.
On the basis of the electronic trading platform ” Freight transportation “, the organization of a new module is being prepared – a designer of logistics products, which will make it possible to offer customers a door-to-door transportation service in digital format. It is planned to attract about 800 service providers to the site and in 2022-2023 reach 100 thousand cargo shipments per year.
The main tasks of the company are to ensure reliability in terms of delivery and export of the entire volume of the presented goods, said Aleksey Shilo. This year, it is planned to introduce a system of automatic approval of applications for transportation with ports, based on their actual unloading capabilities. This will make it possible to further streamline the interaction at the “railway – port” junction, reduce the time required to approve applications and, in general, increase the efficiency of transportation in export traffic.
To improve the quality of service for continuous-cycle enterprises, Russian Railways is developing a system for automated monitoring of stocks of raw materials required for production, as well as finished products in railroad warehouses.
A program for creating a commercial infrastructure has been formed. It aims to attract customers among small and medium businesses. To this end, 124 projects have been launched on the railway network, providing points of growth for the freight base, including lengthening station tracks, modernizing freight yards, and building ramps. Russian Railways is also considering various options to reduce transport costs for cargo owners.
“Today, the shipper, when ordering a car from the operator, receives a payment calculation based on the maximum possible delivery time. On underloaded routes, under special contracts, we could offer other delivery times and thereby save up to half the cost of the rate per carriage by reducing the carriage turnover, ”said Aleksey Shilo.
The company will also continue to develop technology for the movement of long and heavy trains, said Rashid Saybatalov, Deputy Director General of Russian Railways – Head of the Central Traffic Management Directorate.
Taking into account the supply of new locomotives to the network by the end of 2021, a daily passage of 125 freight trains weighing 7.1 thousand tons will be provided in the direction of the ports of the Far East. A similar task is being addressed this year in the central and western parts of the network. The increase in the fleet of locomotives of the 3ES10 series will allow organizing the movement of up to 17 freight trains weighing 8-9 thousand tons in the north-west direction.
To accelerate the advancement of car traffic, Russian Railways is systematically working to reduce the number of technical operations with carriages along the route. In 2021, their number is planned to be reduced by 10%. According to Rashid Saybatalov, this will also have a positive effect on the speed of cargo delivery.
JSC Russian Railways (JSC Russian Railways) is a Russian railway carrier. The company is the owner of the public railway transport infrastructure, according to which, by the end of 2020, 47% of the freight turnover of the Russian transport system, including pipeline transport, and 87% of the freight turnover, excluding pipeline transport, were carried out.
Handling on the Russian Railways network in 2020 decreased by 2.7% compared to 2019, to 1,244 million tons. In January, thevolume increased by 1% against the level of January 2020 and amounted to 101 million tons.
