The first Turkish electric train, designed and built by a joint venture of Tüvasaş, Turkish State Railways (TCDD) and the Ministry of Transport, Shipping and Communications UDH, has been presented at the Tüvasaş carriage company in Adapazarı.
The Minister of Transport and Infrastructure of Turkey A. Karaismailoglu participated in the ceremony, and emphasized that the project is being implemented as part of the national program to expand the use of domestic technologies and support the implementation of European TSI standards.
Factory tests will begin on June 29 and running tests on August 30, 2020. It is planned that the electric train will go into commercial operation at the end of 2020.
The five-car train with seats for 324 passengers, including two with limited mobility, includes a car with first-class seats and a buffet. All cars with aluminum bodies are equipped with air conditioning, fire alarms, video surveillance, audio and visual passenger information.
The structure has five toilets. With an axle load of less than 18 tons, the design speed of the presented electric train model is 176 km / h, and the operational speed will be limited to 160 km / h.
A train version is being developed that is designed for movement at speeds up to 225 km / h. To date, 20 trains have been ordered by TCDD; in total, the company in Adapazary plans to produce 111 cars for manning trains with a composition of 3 to 6 cars.
