US: Pennsylvania Approves Tranport Plans

The Board of Directors of the Southeastern Pennsylvania Transportation Authority (SEPTA) has approved a strategic development plan for FY2021 to FY2026, which sets out broad guidelines for post-era operation and outlines future growth prospects.

The administration will focus on creating a single transport network with uniform standards in the formation of traffic patterns, communication systems, maintenance and operation, as well as on the development of a comprehensive plan for the development of regional railway networks, their integration with other modes of transport managed by the SEPTA administration.

New projects include a 7.2 km extension of the Norristown high-speed light rail line (the King of Prussia Rail project), the modernization of this network, and the development of the capacity of the regional line network, including the Market-Frankford line. The SEPTA administration notes that these projects will help accelerate economic growth in the region.
