Russian Railways JSC and the cargo sealing operator Center for the Development of Digital Platforms (CDCP) have agreed to work together to develop a system for tracking goods transportation and the use of electronic navigation seals, the press center of Russian Railways said today.
The companies signed a corresponding agreement, which provides, in particular, for the integration of the system proposed by the Central Development Center with the information systems of Russian Railways. This will allow for the efficient exchange of data when processing documents for organizing transportation and tracking cargo. The digitalization of all processes and the use of electronic navigation seals will make it possible to speed up the clearance of goods transportation, optimize customs procedures without reducing their efficiency, and minimize the time and financial costs of shippers, according to the material of Russian Railways.
In 2019, the decree of the President of the Russian Federation determined the possibility of transit of “sanctioned” cargo through the territory of Russia, provided that electronic navigation seals are used.
Monitoring of “sanctioned” goods transported through the country will be carried out using a transportation tracking system. It will ensure the collection, processing, storage and automatic transmission of data on the location and safety of goods to control and supervisory authorities.
The shipper will also have detailed information about the location of the shipment. An electronic seal will ensure a higher safety of the cargo: it will signal an outside interference, which will allow you to quickly take measures to prevent theft or violation of the integrity of the shipment.
The cargo tracking system using navigation seals is a project that is being developed with the participation of the Federal Customs Service of Russia, the Ministry of Transport of Russia, Rostransnadzor, the Ministry of Finance, the Ministry of Economic Development, the Ministry of Agriculture and Russian Railways.
The first shipments of “sanctioned” cargoes from Europe to China in transit through the territory of Russia using electronic navigation seals Russian Railways Holding began in March 2020.
