Bourkina Faso Intesifies Rail Connectivity with Neighbours

A member of ECOWAS parliament,Hon. Joseph Sama recently presented Burkina Faso’s country Report in plenary on the status of Implementation of Community Programmes and Projects with respect to transport and infrastructure projects

He listed major government actions in terms of transport and infrastructure to focus on creating accessibility both internally and to neighbouring countries.

The lawmaker stated that government’s actions to create access to neighbouring countries are targeted at the construction and rehabilitation of international roads and railways with projects such as the construction of the Ouagadougou-Abidjan highway;the rehabilitation of the Abidjan-Ouagadougou railway and its extension to Dori and Tambao; the Ouagadougou-Tema railway project.

Burkina Faso’s projects under the CDP are
West African railway loop project namely the Niamey-Kaya (430 km) at an estimated cost of USD 597.7 million. Regional railway projects include Niamey-Kaya, Niamey-Cotonou and Ouangolodougou-Bamako.
