After the change of ownership, the company plans to start implementing projects for the railways.
According to UKHP, after the change of ownership, the production of diversified civilian products on the basis of the enterprise is one of the priority areas of the plant’s activities.
According to Evgeny Krasilnikov, director of the strategic marketing department of ORKK, the design and engineering bureau of UKHP JSC plans to start production of innovative railway rolling stock for organizing container transportation.
New platforms will be able to reach speeds of up to 140 km / h, which will allow them to reduce the time of cargo transportation.
The production capacities of UKVZ allow to produce about 300 platforms per year. Serial production is scheduled to begin in July-August 2020.
According to Gudka, Stanislav Zolotaryov, Deputy General Director for Relations with State Authorities and the Prospective Development of Altayvagon JSC, now there is no rolling stock on the market for accelerated transportation of containers that could reach speeds of over 120 km / h.
“Also today there are no freight locomotives to transport rolling stock at this speed. However, at the first stage they can be used as part of passenger trains. Also, structural changes are needed in existing bogies, for example in the brake system, in order to achieve such high-speed performance, ”he explained.
Participants in the transportation process believe that high-speed rolling stock is necessary in the market, because its application will solve the problem on busy sections of infrastructure, and also open up new opportunities for existing container directions.
According to the General Director of PJSC TransContainer Vyacheslav Saraev, the renewal of the fleet of fitting platforms should initially be laid at high speeds.
“The average speed of container trains last year was about 700-800 km / day. The achieved indicators are very high, but if we take the analysis for 9 months of 2019, 43% of container trains arrived late, 13% of them arrived late for more than two days. In Europe, due to geographical restrictions, the train speed is 350 km / day. However, technically, the speed of the platform with the container reaches 150 km / h, while in Russia it is not more than 120 km / h, ”he explained.
According to Alexander Sivertsev, Deputy Director for Sales of Rail Cargo Logistics – RUS, delivery times can be increased, including through the development of special platform wagons for high-speed transportation of large containers.
“The Russian Railways Transsib in 7 Days project demonstrates high rates of speed on the network, but only in rare cases container trains travel across Russia at a speed of about 1,100 km / day.
Typically, the speed of accelerated container trains does not exceed 800–900 km / day. In the future, this indicator will grow steadily, since the delivery time of goods directly depends on it, ”he noted.
According to the expert, high-speed platforms will be in demand in China-EU transit via the Trans-Siberian Railway on the routes Zabaykalsk – Brest and Naushki – Brest.
“Such trains will be able to overcome about 1.5 thousand km per day, which is a very good indicator,” he emphasized.
According to Gudka, Andrei Shevtsov, Deputy General Director for Technical Development and Chief Engineer of Federal Cargo Company JSC, increasing the speed of container transportation, primarily in the direction of the Far East – Europe, and the movement of container trains on passenger schedules will satisfy the needs of shippers in timely and high-quality cargo delivery, as well as increase the throughput of the Trans-Siberian Railway.
“Now there is a tendency in the development of the container transportation market, shippers are interested in reducing the time for cargo delivery. The development of high-speed freight rolling stock will not only meet the needs of existing partners, but also attract new ones. In accordance with the requirements of the Rules for the Technical Operation of Railways, any type of freight rolling stock runs at speeds of not more than 90 km / h.
“Limitations are due to the design features of the carriage chassis and the capabilities of auto-brakes. The use of a welded construction three-axle carriage in the design of the three-axle carriage, as well as the use of pneumatic and electro-pneumatic brakes, will increase the speed of operation of the new platform car to 140 km / h, ”he said.
Andrey Shevtsov added that UKHP is not the only plant that is developing high-speed rolling stock.
“At present, by order of FGK VNIKTI (JSC All-Russian Scientific Research, Design and Technological Institute of Rolling Stock. – Ed.) Is developing a high-speed platform wagon for transporting large-capacity containers, designed to run at a speed of 140 km / h in trains continuous formation. Given the novelty of the developed rolling stock, we have to prepare a regulatory framework for ensuring high-speed transportation, carry out theoretical and practical work to study the dynamics of the movement of high-speed platforms in the train. That is, to understand how this rolling stock will be operated in various climatic conditions. For example, how wind loads, temperature conditions and other factors will affect the safety of traffic.
