#Stadler Wins Contract for Narrow Gauge Trains

In early March 2021, in addition to the existing framework agreement, Stadler received an order from the Italian company EAV (Ente Autonomo Volturno) for the manufacture and delivery of 40 electric trains.

The contract also provides for their maintenance within 5 years from the start of operation. The total lead time is 8 years. The first stage provides for the delivery of 23 units.

The new trains are intended for urban and suburban transport on 950 mm gauge lines in the Naples area. EAV management intends to significantly improve transport services for local residents and tourists in this area of the Campania region.

The renewal of the train fleet will be accompanied by the gradual decommissioning of obsolete rolling stock.

The new electric train consists of three carriages with aluminum alloy bodies, which reduces overall weight and energy consumption. With a length of 40 m, there will be five doors on both sides of the train.

This will ensure quick embarkation and disembarkation. Passengers, including those with reduced mobility, can move freely along the entire length of the train thanks to the wide inter-car passages (computer graphics, source: Stadler).
