Duisburg Rail Port Installs Gate Technologies

Press Release -After a first installation in the port of Logport III in Duisburg, we can now look forward to a framework contract, which includes the retrofitting of up to ten rail gates. These are to be erected at various locations on the approx. 14 square kilometer harbor area within the next three years.

Immediately after signing the contract, in November 2018, the first calls for two locations within the port area followed.

Within a very short time, the hardware components were installed in Duisburg Rheinhausen (Logport I) in the middle of January in order to present a functional system. Again, our project managers were convincing both in conception and in the installation work in the outdoor area by a deep expertise and above average work input, even at temperatures below 5 ° C.

Duisport is currently serviced weekly by 30 freight trains from different destinations in China. Since the start of the connections in 2011, the Duisburg port is the start and finish point of the China trains. As part of the Silk Road initiative “One Belt, One Road” in particular, the travel time of Chinese freight trains from 12-13 days to be further reduced. This is to be made possible, among other things, by means of automatic registration and digitization of the recognized vehicle and loading unit data on the basis of our video doors.

The second call order concerns the location “Duisport-Ruhrort”. The construction of this plant is scheduled for March / April 2019.

As the largest inland port in the world, the Duisburg port also wants to be a technological leader. OCR technology allows a huge improvement in internal control and is a practical example of logistic chain digitization.

The example of these two locations shows that our video doors can be individually adapted to the existing infrastructure. Locations can be, for example, by the number of tracks, the distance to the neighboring track in the detection area, the presence of overhead lines or similar. differ. Our strength is to offer competent solutions for these different requirements.
