The management of the Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC) has reassured that normal passenger train services between Kaduna-Rigasa and Idu Abuja are continuing despite a minor derailment at Jere station.
Recall that some coaches in a train which departed the Rigasa Train Station in Kaduna on Sunday morning to Abuja reportedly derailed in a mountainous area near Jere.
Reacting to this in an official statement on Sunday, in Abuja, the Deputy Director of Public Relations for NRC, Yakub Mahmood, confirmed that all passengers on board the affected train safely reached their respective destinations.
Assuring safety of passengers, Mahmood said NRC’s engineers are on site to ensure that affected locations are restored.
“All the passengers on board the Kaduna-Rigasa to Idu Abuja arrived at their respective destinations safely.
“Meanwhile, a team of Nrc Engineers are already at the site to restore the affected locations.
“Nigerian Railway Corporation Management regrets any inconveniences to our affected valued passengers. NRC wishes to assure our valued passengers of our efforts towards ensuring their safety and comfort always.”
