NSCDC intercepts two trailers of vandalised railway slippers in Niger

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Niger State Command, said its personnel have intercepted two trailers suspected of transporting vandalized railway sleepers in Mokwa Local Government Area of the state.

The Niger State NSCDC Commandant, Joachim Okafor, stated this during a press briefing in his office on Friday.

According to him, the command’s anti-vandal squad, acting on intelligence, intercepted the trucks along Mokwa Road in Niger State. The drivers of the trucks, upon sighting the personnel, took to their heels and abandoned the trucks.

He added that an investigation is ongoing to identify the owners of the trailers and the vandalized railway sleepers.

The state commandant urged perpetrators of economic sabotage to stop using Niger as a transit point, as the command will continue to respond to information from the public to arrest and prosecute criminals.
